Answer:
No, having a prescription for a drug, service or supply does not guarantee what is being prescribed will be covered under the OSSTF Benefits plans. For coverage under the OSSTF Benefits plans the drug, service or supply must be listed as an eligible expense according to provisions outlined in the OSSTF Benefits booklet. Members can access the benefits booklet by logging into their member account on OTIP plan member’s site and selecting Benefits Booklet (plan details) from under the My Library drop down menu.
Members are encouraged to check the details of coverage in the benefit booklet prior to making expensive health and dental purchases. When in doubt requesting a pre-determination of benefit by submitting an estimate can avoid incurring expenses that are not eligible for coverage under the OSSTF Benefits Plans. See how here Submit an estimate before making expensive health and dental purchases | OTIP RAEO
