Announcing your new Health Spending Account

Dear Member,

It was recently announced that the Trustees of the OSSTF Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT) are implementing a one-time only $1,000 credit to a Health Spending Account (HSA) for all eligible OSSTF Education Workers.

OSSTF Benefits is proud to offer you this benefit in addition to your existing coverage under the OSSTF Benefits Plan at OTIP.

The HSA and available HSA credit to eligible OSSTF Education Workers will be effective September 1, 2020.

Here are just a few of the ways the HSA can benefit you and your family:

  • More flexible definition of dependants.
  • 100% tax free.
  • No Plan Limits. This one-time $1,000 credit to the HSA is over and above the negotiated funding for the OSSTF Benefits Plan.
  • The $1,000 can be used by members and their eligible dependants towards any medical expense that is allowable under Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines.
  • NOTE: For all eligible OSSTF Education Workers, and/or their eligible dependants, the HSA credit must be utilized on or before August 31, 2022.

What’s next?

The OSSTF HSA is administered by Blendable through a secure online Member Centre. On September 1, 2020, you will receive an invitation from Blendable to activate your secure online Member Centre account. It will include a secure personal link that is required for setup. When it arrives in your inbox, don't delay, activate your account as soon as possible or the link will expire.
