How do I submit a claim?

Depending on the level of complexity, some claims may need more time and/or information to process. We encourage you to get an estimate or pre-determination of benefit before you spend your money on high claim cost items, like medical equipment/services, expensive dental work or drugs that need pre-approval. That way, you know upfront whether your claim will be approved and/or how much will be reimbursed to you.

Most pharmacies and dentists’ offices can submit your claim directly to the insurer.
Other service providers may also have this ability. You can show them your benefits card to find out. Payment may either be sent directly to your provider or to you.

REMINDER: Do not sign a blank benefits claim form.

1). Submit your claim online.

You must be registered to submit claims online. If you are working in an assignment which makes you eligible to participate in an OSSTF Benefits plan you should have received an enrollment email from OTIP inviting you to set up your access to OTIP’s plan member site and select your types of benefit coverage (i.e. health and/or dental, optional life insurance). You have 31 days after you receive this email to enroll without late restrictions.  Enrollment at a later date may result in you and/or your eligible dependents being declined coverage. If you did not or cannot locate your email, please call OTIP Benefits Services at 1-866-783-6847. For more information about registering, view the Login help page.

Once you are registered, submitting your claims online is easy!

1.After logging into My Member Account, click on your Group Benefits plan.

2.Click the Submit a claim button and follow the directions.

Certain providers, expense types and claims need to be submitted manually for verification purposes. Check out What type of claims can I submit online? | OTIP RAEO in the FAQs found under Health and Dental.

How do I submit an estimate online?

  1. After logging in to My Member Account, click on your Group Benefits plan.
  2. Click Submit a claim.
  3. Choose Estimate from the service provider type drop-down menu and follow the steps.

TIP:  To prevent delays in your claim reimbursements:

  • Select the right service provider type and the service provider in the search tool
  • Note: Not all of service providers displayed are eligible for coverage under the OSSTF Benefits plans. Check the list of eligible providers in the Benefits at a Glance document here OSSTF-ELHT-FINAL-Revised-BAAG-August-2025.pdf
  • Enter the provider registration number correctly

2) Mail your claim by


Whether you submit a claim online or by mail, depending on the type you may need to attach your doctor’s note, physician’s referral, prescription, invoice and any other supporting documents requested. You can do this online by following the steps below or by including the documents in the envelope with paper claims.

  1. After logging into My Member Account, click on your Group Benefits plan.
  2. Click Submit a claim.
  3. Select Audit or supporting documents for a previous claim from the service provider type drop-down menu.

NOTE: You are only required to submit a health and dental receipt if prompted to do so. However, all claims are subject to audit without any advance notice, so it is important that you keep your claim receipts for up to 12 months from the date you submit a claim. As outlined in the Terms and Conditions found on My Claims (Plan Member Secure Site), our insurance carrier, Manulife Financial, reserves the right to assess claims manually or request additional information such as receipts and documentation.
