2020 Summer deductions for members on 10-month pay schedule

For members on a 10-month pay schedule, the standard process is that the July and August 2020 member contributions towards premiums will be deducted in May and June 2020. This adjustment for the summer months will be in addition to the standard deduction amounts scheduled to be taken for May and June premiums.

This year we have worked with OTIP, the Boards and the Bargaining Unit Presidents to accommodate requests for alternate collection of summer member contributions. This has resulted in approval by all parties of the following:

  • D8 Avon Maitland TBU members – triple deductions will be taken in June
  • D5A Northern Shield TBU members- double deductions will be taken in June (as members of this bargaining unit have paid member contributions one month in advance)
  • D15 Trillium Lakelands TBU members – July and August deductions will be taken from the June 26th pays
  • D16 York TBU members – triple deductions will be taken in June

For members whose eligibility ceases at the end of June, due to their retirement or cessation of employment, if deductions for July and August member contributions are processed, overpaid member contributions will be refunded by OTIP directly to the member.

For members who are currently set up on a direct bill basis for the payment of member contributions towards the benefits, this will not apply as bank account withdrawals will continue to be processed monthly.

This communication will also be posted on www.OSSTFBenefits.ca for future reference.
